FAA closes Starship mishap investigation, directs 63 corrective actions for SpaceX

FAA says it completed investigation into the April 20 launch of the Starship vehicle. The vehicle suffered several failures of Raptor engines in the booster during its ascent. Report found “multiple root causes” for the mishap but did not identify any of them. FAA noted investigation identified 63 corrective actions SpaceX must complete.

The launch of a United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V 551 rocket carrying the SILENTBARKER/NROL-107 mission has been scrubbed due to an issue found during a prelaunch ordnance circuit continuity check. The launch is now planned for Sunday, September 10 at 8:47 a.m. EDT from Space Launch Complex-41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida.

Scientists, using NASA’s Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory, have discovered a black hole that is continuously snacking on a star that is similar to our Sun. Located in a galaxy around 500 million light-years away from Earth, the black hole’s constant nibbling on the star, a phenomenon known as a tidal disruption event, creates a bright burst of light. This burst of light subsequently lit up the galaxy, which allowed for its discovery.
