Historic Wind Tunnel Facility Testing NASA's Mars Ascent Vehicle Rocket – NASA Mars Exploration

The MAV (Mars Ascent Vehicle) team recently completed wind tunnel testing at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center. The 14-by-14-inch tunnel has been used to test launch vehicle configurations for Artemis, Redstone, Jupiter-C, Saturn, and more. The MAV is an important part of the joint plan between NASA and ESA to bring scientifically selected Martian samples to Earth in the early 2030s.

NASA Releases Independent Review's Mars Sample Return Report – NASA Mars Exploration

An Independent Review Board (IRB) looked at NASA’s current plans and goals of the first mission to return samples from Mars. The board provided its report to NASA earlier this month, which noted the scientific importance of the mission, but expressed concerns over the mission’s budget, among other areas. The board interviewed a wide variety of NASA and external experts to understand the program’s scope and management.

Arianespace’s Vega scrubs attempt to orbit 12 satellites on VV23 mission

Arianespace’s lightweight Vega rocket scrubbed its penultimate flight Friday, ahead of carrying the THEOS-2 Earth-observation satellite for Thailand. Liftoff was scheduled for 10:36 PM local time (01:36 UTC on Saturday) from the Centre Spatial Guyanais in Kourou, French Guiana before a hold was called at T-14 seconds. This will be the first launch of the original version of Vega since November 2021, with this mission designated VV23.
