Missile Defense Agency satellites track first hypersonic launch – SatNews

The Missile Defense Agency didn’t disclose the date of the flight, which took off from Wallops Island in Virginia. The satellites are part of the Space Development Agency’s constellation of spacecraft designed to detect and observe hypersonic weapons or vehicles. The agencies have 10 missile tracking satellites in orbit — eight from SDA and two from MDA.

Hispasat’s comprehensive fire protection system in three new areas reforested by Green Engine – SatNews

Hispasat has rolled out its comprehensive fire management solution in a forest reforested by Green Engine, an initiative promoted by Repsol Foundation and Sylvestris. The installation has been carried out in the Alpedrinha forest, in Portugal, where Pyro’s Bseed WATCH sensors and visible and infrared panoramic cameras have been installed.

In celebration of Juneteenth the Satnews offices will be closed on Wednesday, June 19 and will reopen on Thursday, June 20. June 19 is the day when the U.S. Government officially recognizes the end of slavery.

Albedo is building phone-booth sized satellites that would fly 2x lower than LEO satellites. A contract with SpaceX for the launch of Albedo’s first satellite has now been signed. This time next year, Albedo will be on-orbit capturing imagery.

NASA has exhibits, artifacts and a pool of speakers available to learning institutions and organizations. The agency has thousands of items available ranging from decommissioned programs, science instruments, small hardware flown in space. Since 2009, NASA has transferred more than 13,000 artifacts from its extensive collection to organizations across all 50 U.S. States.
