Powerful New US-Indian Satellite Will Track Earth’s Changing Surface
The NISAR satellite will be able to detect surface motions down to fractions of an inch. It will be able to track the motion of ice sheets, glaciers, and sea ice, and map changes to vegetation. Data from the satellite will give researchers insight into which parts of a fault slowly move without producing earthquakes and which sections are locked together.
Hubble Captures a Galaxy with Many Lights
With the Supernova (2017), A spiral galaxy with an oval-shaped disk. Two large arms curve out away from the ends of the disk. Bright pink patches and dark reddish threads of dust fill the arms. The core is very bright and filled with stars.

JPL Director, 2001-2016 Charles Elachi was born in Lebanon and received a bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Grenoble, France. Elachi taught at Caltech, served in a variety of research and management positions at JPL beginning in 1971, specializing in remote sensing. He became the Director of JPL in May 2001.

Boeing finishing expansion of NASA SLS Core Stage production facilities at KSC

Boeing and NASA are working to finish activating new production facilities at the Kennedy Space Center. The two SLS processing cells in the Space Systems Processing Facility are filled for the first time. Boeing is preparing to check out new tooling in the Vehicle Assembly Building for the final assembly of the third and fourth stages.
