Astroscale and Momentus offer concept for reboosting Hubble

Astroscale and Momentus say they submitted a response to a NASA request for information. The two companies proposed working together to attach a vehicle to the telescope. The vehicle would boost Hubble’s orbit, currently at an altitude of about 527 kilometers. Hubble has been slowly descending since the last shuttle servicing mission in 2009.

Terran Orbital Corporation (NYSE: LLAP) revealed that their Pathfinder Technology Demonstrator 3 (PTD-3) satellite enabled a successful 200 gigabits per second space-to-ground optical link. The NASA satellite hosts the TeraByte InfraRed Delivery (TBIRD) payload, funded by NASA Space Communications and Navigation.

Sidus Space has been selected by Airbus OneWeb Satellites, LLC (AOS) to design and build machined parts. The machined parts will be integrated into the portfolio of Arrow commercial small satellites manufactured by AOS. AOS manufactures satellites for the OneWeb commercial constellation and Airbus customers in Merritt Island, Florida.

SpaceX launched 56 Starlink internet communication satellites into low Earth orbit (LEO) on Sunday, May 14, at 01:03 EDT (05:03 UTC) This was 2023’s 69th orbital launch attempt; with four missions failing to reach orbit, SpaceX currently makes up just under 50% of all successful orbital launches this year. On May 11 the Space Launch Delta 45’s weather squadron released a launch mission execution forecast for this mission, giving the weather a 95% chance of supporting the launch. The weather proved to be no issue for this opening attempt.
