Orbex working towards 2025 first launch

Orbex is developing a small launch vehicle for smallsats in constellations. Chief executive Phil Chambers said the company is shooting for a 2025 launch. He said Orbex still plans to focus on the small end of the market. Chambers hinted at a “block 2” version of Prime with increased performance.

Rocket Lab USA, Inc. Has successfully packed and shipped two Mars-bound spacecraft to Cape Canaveral, Florida, in preparation for launch. The twin spacecraft were designed, built, integrated, and tested by Rocket Lab for the University of California Berkeley’s Space Science Laboratory and NASA. SpaceX will launch a batch of 22 Starlink smallsat Group 10-5 satellites for the mega-constellation, space-based internet communication system. The launch will take place at Space Launch Complex 40 at 2:36 – 5:48 PDT on Tuesday, August 20. Next day, Wednesday, August 21, SpaceX will launch another batch of Starlink Group 9-5 satellites from Vandenberg AFB, California at 1:47 AM – 5:47 AM PDT.

Planet Labs PBC (NYSE:PL) has revealed that the company’s first announced hyperspectral satellite, Tanager-1, along with 36 SuperDoves (Flock 4BE) were successfully launched into orbit during the Transporter-11 Rideshare mission with SpaceX. Tanager-1 combines Planet’s cutting-edge agile aerospace and smallsat bus technology with the state-of-the-art imaging spectrometer design developed at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
