Xenesis to send optical terminal to ISS platform

Xenesis is preparing to install an optical communications hub for customers of Bartolomeo. Illinois-based Xenesis plans to ship the Xen-Hub optical flight terminal to Airbus in November. Xenesis will begin providing communications services by the end of the second quarter of 2025.

Lockheed Martin opens new factory focused on small satellites

Lockheed Martin has opened a new facility to assemble small satellites. The 20,000-square-foot factory is located at the company’s Waterton campus near Denver. The first satellites to be made at the facility are for the U.S. Space Force.

ISS transition plans a work in progress

NASA, companies committed to transition from ISS to commercial stations by end of decade. Exactly how that process will work is still under discussion. Transition will involve some kind of transition period as activities move over. NASA also working on specific requirements it will levy on commercial space station providers.

SpaceX was successful with the Falcon 9 launch of 22 Starlink satellites today, Sunday, August 6 at 10:41 p.m. ET. This is the fourth flight for the first stage booster supporting this mission, which previously launched Crew-6, SES O3b mPOWER, and one Starlink mission. To date SpaceX has launched 4,881 Starlink spacecraft.

Advanced Space LLC. Has been selected by NASA for two of the new Phase I concepts under the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. The first project, won under the Flight Dynamics and Navigation Technologies subtopic, will support NASA’s future efforts to design spacecraft trajectories for vehicles flying in cislunar space using low-thrust propulsion. The second project, Advanced Space will develop deorbit technologies compatible with small satellites, which will reduce the threat of orbital debris posed by large satellite constellations.

Hawkeye 360 contracted to develop greater Pacific Islands maritime visibility – SatNews

HawkEye 360 Inc. Awarded a contract by the Commonwealth of Australia for a pilot program to provide greater maritime domain awareness. NuLIoN smallsat contact established by NuSpace Pte Ltd. + NUS CRISP – SatNews

NuSpace's NuLIoN smallsat has been successfully inserted into orbit. The company attempted to contact the satellite using the firm’s own ground station. NUS CRISP picked up a short blip on their spectrum analyzer, which corresponded to NuLIoN’s frequency.
