Space Force to award multiple contracts for ‘Digital Spaceport’ up to $1.9 million each

SpaceWERX is looking to award contracts worth up to $1.9 million each for IT upgrades. The project known as Digital Spaceport of the Future was announced earlier this month. SpaceWERX officials on Jan. 10 said launch ranges are in dire need of IT upgrades.

Astrobotic gets payloads working on ailing Peregrine lander

Astrobotic says it has received data from nine of 20 payloads on the lander. The company is working to squeeze as much life as possible out of the crippled spacecraft. A propellant leak has ruled out any chance of attempting a soft landing on the moon in February. The leak will limit the lifetime of the lander.

D-Orbit raises $110 million to expand space logistics services

D-Orbit, an Italian company that provides space transportation services, has raised 100 million euros. The company announced Jan. 11 a first closing of a Series C round, led by Japanese company Marubeni. D-Orbit currently provides in-space transportation services using its ION series of orbital transfer vehicles.

Orienspace breaks Chinese commercial launch records with Gravity-1 solid rocket

Orienspace’s Gravity-1 rocket lifted off from Defu-15002 mobile sea platform in Yellow Sea. The three satellites, Yunyao-1 (18-20), were later tracked by 478 by 499-kilometer orbits. The mission was the first launch for Orienspace which was founded in 2020.
