Internet from space for schools in Haiti on Thursday, November 14. SpaceX will launch a batch of Starlink Group 6-68 smallsats from Space Launch Complex 40, Cape Canaveral, Florida. A batch of Starlink v2 Mini satellites will be deployed to LEO, while the booster will be recovered on Just Read the Instructions in the Atlantic.

SpaceX will launch 20 Starlink smallsats to include 13 Direct to Cell from Vandenberg on Wednesday, November 13 at 8:21 PM. The Starlink 9-11 mission is set to be followed by the Starlink 6-68 mission, which may launch as soon as roughly six hours later. The forecast calls for a temperature of 58°F, few clouds, 22% cloud cover and a wind speed of 14mph.

Sikorsky and Rain demonstrate how an autonomous Black Hawk helicopter can be commanded to take off, identify the location and size of a small fire, and then accurately drop water to suppress the flames. Representatives from NASA, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Los Angeles County Fire Department, Orange County Fire Authority witnessed the demonstration.

Rheinmetall and SAR satellite company ICEYE have signed a contract. The agreement further increases the SAR data and other support Ukraine has been receiving from ICEYE during the war. Since early October 2024, Ukraine receives new satellite images taken by ICEYE’s SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) satellites.

Researchers demonstrated the feasibility of 3D bioprinting a meniscus or knee cartilage tissue in microgravity. The meniscus is the first engineered tissue of an anatomically relevant shape printed on the station. Manufactured human tissues have potential as alternatives to donor organs, which are in short supply.
JPL Workforce Update
JPL Director Laurie Leshin sent a memo to employees this morning. The layoff will affect about 325 people, or about 5% of the JPL workforce. Leshin: "These are painful but necessary adjustments that will enable us to adhere to our budget"

Koreasat 6A communications satellite launched aboard a Falcon 9 on Monday, Nov. 11, from Launch Complex 39A at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The mission carried 24 Starlink v2 Mini satellites to low-Earth orbit (LEO) Falcon 9 booster B1067-23 took an eastward flight path that allowed the payload to be inserted into geostationary transfer orbit (GTO) The booster conducted a return to launch site (RTLS) landing with a safe touchdown at Landing Zone 1 (LZ-1) This was only the second RTLS recovery for a booster flying a satellite to GTO after the Ovzon-3 mission on Jan. 3 of this year. China is scheduled to launch a rocket, believed to be a Chang Zheng 4C (CZ-4C), from LC-9 at Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center (TSLC) on Wednesday, Nov. 13.
