Sentinel-1D was launched from Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana on Tuesday, November 4th. The satellite gained its assigned orbit, with signal acquisition confirming the satellite is on-orbit and is actively communicating with the ground systems. Sentinel-1D will join its twin, Sentinel-1C and will replace Sentinel-1A when fully commissioned.

The Sentinel-1D Earth observation satellite was flown aboard the third Ariane 6 launch of 2025. The flight, only the fourth ever flown by the Ariane 6, successfully launched on Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 21:02 UTC from ELA-4 at the Centre Spatial Guyanais in Kourou, French Guiana. The rocket took a northbound trajectory, placing the Sentinel-1D satellite in a Sun-synchronous orbit. The 2,184 kg Sentinel-1D, manufactured by Thales Alenia Space, was deployed to a circular Sun- synchronous orbit at an altitude of roughly 693 km.
