Astranis secures another SpaceX Falcon 9 launch for additional GEO satellites – SatNews

Astranis has launched four MicroGEO satellites for customers in the Philippines, Mexico, and the United States. The satellites completed Initial Commissioning and on January 10th and began their orbit raise to GEO, where they will enter into service this summer. This followed the launch of the firm’s first first satellite, Arcturus, in 2023.

Falcon 9 launched 21 Starlink satellites, including 13 with Direct to Cell capabilities, to low-Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The 45th Weather Squadron gave a 95% chance of good liftoff conditions, with the only concerns being the cumulus cloud rule. A live webcast of this mission will begin about five minutes prior to liftoff, which you can watch on X @SpaceX.

Blue Origin’s New Shepard NS-29 will launch from West Texas Suborbital Launch Site/ Corn Ranch. This mission will simulate the Moon’s gravity and fly 30 payloads, all but one of which is focused on testing lunar-related technologies. The payloads will experience two minutes of lunar gravity forces, a first for New Shepard.

Indian Space Research Organization will launch on Tuesday, January 28, at 4:53 PM PST, from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, India. The forecast calls for a temperature of 78°F, overcast clouds, 100% cloud cover and a wind speed of 10mph. This is a replacement satellite for the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System.

NASA to Preview Sky-Mapping Space Telescope Ahead of Launch

NASA will host a news conference at 12 p.m. EST Friday, Jan. 31. Agency experts will preview NASA’s SPHEREx (Spectro-Photometer for the History of the Universe) mission. Launch is targeted for no earlier than Thursday, Feb. 27.

NASA’s CLPS program accelerates as two landers head for the Moon

Two commercial lunar landers are currently on their way to the Moon. At least two more are set to follow this year under NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) initiative. Over a dozen uncrewed lunar missions are scheduled to be launched in the coming years.
