The two-year project is co-funded with the European Space Agency (ESA) and is being tested at sea together with a Belgian short sea shipping company. The connection between remote operations center and the vessel uses 4G or 5G and in the case of unavailability of a terrestrial network, satellite communications are used and provided by neXat. The solution – called SeaNext – will also monitor all available networks, providing a connectivity ‘heatmap’.

NASA’s Webb Telescope Improves Simulation Software

The James Webb Space Telescope was too complex to test on the ground, at scale, at minus 400 degrees Fahrenheit, and in other space-like conditions. Instead, engineers relied on software simulations to understand how the telescope would behave under different in-space conditions. Future telescopes and other spacecraft are likely to involve elements of the Webb design.
