Virgin Orbit extends deadline for bankruptcy auction bids

Virgin Orbit extends deadline for final bids by four days, from May 15 to May 19. Company also postpones deadline to notify bidders that their bids are considered qualified. If there are more than one qualified bids, a bankruptcy auction will take place. A court hearing on the sale, though, remains scheduled for May 24.

The Falcon 9 rocket took off at 1:03:30 a.m. EDT (0503:30 UTC) from Pad 40 at Cape Canaveral. A little more than an hour later, the Falcon 9’s upper stage released the 56 Starlink internet satellites into orbit. The batch of 56 Starlink satellites tied the record for the heaviest payload ever launched by a SpaceX rocket.

SpaceX’s Falcon 9 successfully launched 56 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit on Sunday, May 14 at 1:03 a.m. ET. The batch of 56 Starlink satellites tie the record for the heaviest payload ever launched by a SpaceX rocket. The mission is numbered Starlink 5-9 in SpaceX’s launch sequence.

Vulcan-Centaur rocket rolled out to SLC-41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on May 11. The launch pad has been modified to launch both Atlas V and Vulcan. Vulcan is designed to replace both Atlas V and Delta IV Heavy, which are currently being phased out. Meanwhile, ULA offloaded its final Delta IV Heavy rocket from their Rocketship vessel.
