House appropriators would fully fund NASA’s Mars Sample Return program. The Senate bill provided only $300 million for the program, less than a third of NASA’s request. The House bill provides $7.38 billion for NASA science programs, slightly more than the Senate bill. The House bill also reduces funding for space technology and space operations.

Virgin Galactic carries researchers on fifth commercial suborbital flight

Virgin Galactic's VSS Unity spaceplane took off from New Mexico's Spaceport America. Unity separated at about 9:45 a.m. Eastern, igniting its hybrid rocket motor. It flew to a peak altitude of approximately 87.2 kilometers and top speed of Mach 2.96. On board were two researchers, a space tourist and a private astronaut.

Space Force takes over missile-warning ground stations previously run by the Army

Four Joint Tactical Ground Station (JTAGS) units based in Italy, South Korea, Japan and Qatar. They had been operated by the U.S. Army’s 1st Space Brigade.
