Rocket Lab USA Inc. Will launch the agency’s Aspera mission. Aspera will examine hot gas in the space between galaxies, called the intergalactic medium. The mission will study the inflow and outflow of gas from galaxies, a process thought to contribute to star formation.
AAC Clyde Space wins 814,000 euros order for power systems in an EO program – SatNews

AAC Clyde Space has won an order from Ghalam LLP in Kazakhstan for Starbuck Mini power systems. The order is valued at 814,000 euros, with delivery scheduled for March of 2026. The units will be used onboard EO satellites developed under the KazEOSat-MR program.

SpaceX is targeting Friday, May 16 for a Falcon 9 launch of 26 Starlink smallsats to low-Earth orbit. A live webcast of this mission will begin about five minutes prior to liftoff. There is the possibility that residents of Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura counties may hear one or more sonic booms.
Poland acquires SAR satellites from ICEYE to strengthen defence capabilities – SatNews

ICEYE has signed an agreement with the Ministry of National Defense of Poland to supply three SAR satellites to the Polish Armed Forces. The agreement, valued at approximately €200 million, also includes the option to purchase an additional three satellites and enhanced ground segment capabilities. ICEYE will also collaborate with local industry to develop a mobile Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform.

Satellite gives researchers a multidimensional view of water levels, which they can use to calculate the slope of a wave or eddy. This in turn yields information on the amount of pressure, or force, being applied to the water in the feature. From there, researchers can figure out how fast a current is moving, what's driving it and how much energy, heat, or nutrients those currents are transporting.
Gilmour Space scrubs Australia’s first homegrown orbital launch with Eris rocket

Gilmour Space Technologies was due to launch its homegrown Eris rocket on May 16. The company reported that an unexpected issue triggered the rocket’s payload fairing during overnight checks. A replacement will be dispatched from the company’s Gold Coast facility following an investigation. The anomaly occurred before any fuel was loaded, and Gilmour Space reports that there is no damage to the rocket or the pad. Eris will fly on a northeasterly trajectory over the Coral Sea and hopes to reach low-Earth orbit on its first attempt.
