NASA adds three companies to launch services contract for smallsat missions

NASA has added three companies to a contract for launching smallsat missions. Arrow Science and Technology, Impulse Space and Momentus Space selected for the contract. Momentus Space has had recent financial struggles. Momentus has not provided few details about its financial status since then.

Scout Space, Dawn Aerospace partner for spaceplane surveillance demonstration

Scout Space will install space domain awareness sensors aboard Dawn Aerospace’s Mk-II Aurora. The test flight is targeted for November at the Tāwhaki National Aerospace Centre near Christchurch. The Mk-II Aurora is a reusable spaceplane that takes off and lands horizontally like a conventional aircraft.

China plans to launch an exoplanet observatory in 2028 with the aim of making a breakthrough detection of a potential second Earth. Around 5,000 exoplanets have been found since 1995, but no Earth-sized planets in the habitable zones of sun-like stars have been spotted. The hope is to find a “wandering Earth,” floating free of stars in the void of deep space.
